Canva vs Figma vs Adobe Express: Design Tool Pricing Playbook

Canva Pro costs 144 dollars a year, Figma Professional 16 dollars a seat a month, and Adobe Express Premium 9.99 dollars a month — but the team bill at 5, 25, and 100 seats is decided by the free-tier ceilings and the paywalled features, not the headline price.

Canva vs Figma vs Adobe Express: Design Tool Pricing Playbook

Three design tools, three ways to charge for a seat. Canva sells a flat per-person price. Figma sells three seat types at three prices on each plan. Adobe Express sells a monthly individual plan and a team plan whose first-year price is not its renewal price. The headline numbers look close. The annual bills are not.

Every price here was read from the vendors' own pricing pages on November 8, 2026. One honest exception: Adobe's pricing page refused every request from this network on November 8, returning "Access Denied", so the Adobe figures are cross-checked across four independent October 2026 reads of Adobe's own pricing page, all of which agree.

Adobe Express Premium is the cheapest solo paid seat at $119.88 a year, and Adobe Express Teams is the cheapest team seat in year one and on renewal. Canva Business and Figma Organization cost more per seat: Canva charges for brand control, Figma charges for who can edit a design file.

Canva: one price per person, and Pro means one person

Pro costs $144 a year for one person, expressed as $12 a month billed yearly, or $18 a month billed monthly. Business costs $250 per person a year, expressed as $20.83 a month billed yearly, or $25 per person a month billed monthly. Enterprise is a custom quote.

The fact that decides most Canva purchases is the seat rule, not the price. Pro is a one-person plan: Canva's own comparison page states that only one person can hold a Canva Pro subscription. The moment a second person needs their own login, the account moves to Business. One person pays $144 a year; two people pay $500 a year on Business annual billing.

Business, formerly Teams (renamed October 30, 2025), adds team admin tools, 100 Brand Kits with approvals, 500GB of storage per person, and a 10 percent print discount. Pro carries 5 Brand Kits and 100GB of storage.

Pro: $18×12=$216 monthly, $144 annual, saving $72 (33% );Business: $25×12=$300 monthly, $250 annual, saving $50 (17% )\text{Pro: } \$18 \times 12 = \$216 \text{ monthly, } \$144 \text{ annual, saving } \$72 \text{ (33\% )}; \quad \text{Business: } \$25 \times 12 = \$300 \text{ monthly, } \$250 \text{ annual, saving } \$50 \text{ (17\% )}

Canva rations AI by plan: Pro includes 10 times more AI than Canva Free, and Business includes 20 times more.

Figma: the seat type is the price

Figma does not sell one price per plan. It sells three seat types — Full, Dev, and Collab — and each plan prices each seat type separately. A Full seat edits Figma Design files, a Dev seat is for developers working in Dev Mode, and a Collab seat covers FigJam, Slides, and Buzz without Design editing. People who only view and comment need no paid seat at all on a paid plan.

Professional is the only Figma plan with a monthly billing option. Its Full seat costs $16 a month on annual billing or $20 a month billed monthly. Dev costs $12 a month annual or $15 monthly. Collab costs $3 a month annual or $5 monthly. Organization and Enterprise bill annually only. The pricing page defaults to annual billing; the monthly figures were read with its billing toggle switched to Monthly and cross-checked against independent October 2026 reads, which agree exactly.

Professional, annual vs monthly: Full $16×12=$192 vs $240;Dev $12×12=$144 vs $180;Collab $3×12=$36 vs $60\text{Professional, annual vs monthly: Full } \$16 \times 12 = \$192 \text{ vs } \$240; \quad \text{Dev } \$12 \times 12 = \$144 \text{ vs } \$180; \quad \text{Collab } \$3 \times 12 = \$36 \text{ vs } \$60

Figma's AI allowance is metered per seat: a Full seat on Professional carries 3,000 AI credits a month, Dev and Collab seats carry 500 each. Organization raises the Full seat to 3,500 credits a month, and Enterprise to 4,250.

The higher plans buy control, not canvas. Professional adds unlimited files and projects, team-wide design libraries, and advanced Dev Mode inspection. Organization adds shared libraries, fonts, and centralized admin. Enterprise adds custom workspaces, design-system theming and APIs, and SCIM.

Adobe Express: the cheapest seat, with a renewal step

Adobe Express sells Premium for one person, Firefly Pro for heavy generative use, Teams for shared libraries and admin, and Enterprise by quote. Premium costs $9.99 a month, billed monthly, with no annual commitment. Adobe's pricing page prints no annual price for individual Premium, so there is no yearly Premium figure to quote. Firefly Pro costs $19.99 a month and bundles Premium with 4,000 generative credits a month against Premium's 250.

Teams is where Adobe's pricing needs a second reading. Teams costs $4.99 per license a month in the first year, then $7.99 per license a month on renewal, on an annual subscription billed monthly, with a two-seat minimum. The first-year price is a promo, not the price. A team that budgets $4.99 a seat and forgets the renewal pays 60 percent more per seat from year two. Teams carries 250 generative credits per user a month and 1TB of shared storage.

Teams, per license: year one $4.99×12=$59.88;renewal $7.99×12=$95.88;step $95.88−$59.88=$36.00 (60% )\text{Teams, per license: year one } \$4.99 \times 12 = \$59.88; \quad \text{renewal } \$7.99 \times 12 = \$95.88; \quad \text{step } \$95.88 - \$59.88 = \$36.00 \text{ (60\% )}

Adobe bundles Express Premium with Creative Cloud subscriptions, so a Creative Cloud Pro subscriber gets Premium without a separate Express charge. Adobe's annual Teams plan also carries an early-termination fee after the 14-day window, reported at 50 percent of the remaining contract value.

Adobe Express Teams renews at $7.99 a license a month after a $4.99 first year, and the annual subscription carries an early-termination fee. Budget the renewal price, not the promo price.

Free-tier ceilings: what $0 actually allows

Canva Free gives 1.6 million templates and 4.7 million stock assets, but only 1 Brand Kit, limited to 3 colors, and 5GB of storage. A business with a fixed palette cannot run on Free: the single 3-color Brand Kit is the ceiling.

Figma Starter gives unlimited drafts, UI kits, and templates, and 150 AI credits a day up to 500 a month. Its ceilings are structural: no unlimited files and projects, no team libraries, no shared fonts. A team cannot run a shared design system on Starter.

Adobe Express Free gives 5GB of storage and a small daily allowance of free generations, with premium templates held behind Premium. Its ceiling is the generative meter and the template library, not storage.

Canva's free ceiling is brand control, Figma's is shared structure, Adobe's is generative volume. Buy the tier that removes the ceiling you hit.

"The price on the card is never the bill. Count the seats you actually need, the seats the plan forces you to buy, and the month the promo price ends. That is the number to compare."

The solo buyer: one person, three bills

For one person, the annual cost of each individual paid plan is:

Canva Pro: $144;Adobe Premium: $9.99×12=$119.88;Figma Professional Full, annual: $16×12=$192;monthly: $20×12=$240\text{Canva Pro: } \$144; \quad \text{Adobe Premium: } \$9.99 \times 12 = \$119.88; \quad \text{Figma Professional Full, annual: } \$16 \times 12 = \$192; \quad \text{monthly: } \$20 \times 12 = \$240

Adobe Premium is the cheapest solo seat at $119.88 a year. But the three plans do not buy the same work. Premium buys templates, brand kits, and 250 generative credits a month. Pro adds a larger template library, 5 Brand Kits, 100GB, and social scheduling. A Figma Full seat buys design-file editing and Dev Mode, which neither rival sells.

Team math at 5, 25, and 100 seats

Team pricing is per-seat pricing times headcount, with two complications: Figma's seat types and Adobe's first-year promo. Figures below use annual billing.

Canva Business at $250 per person a year, and Figma Organization at $660 per Full seat a year:

Canva Business: 5 ×$250=$1,250;25 ×$250=$6,250;100 ×$250=$25,000\text{Canva Business: 5 } \times \$250 = \$1,250; \quad \text{25 } \times \$250 = \$6,250; \quad \text{100 } \times \$250 = \$25,000
Figma Organization Full: 5 ×$660=$3,300;25 ×$660=$16,500;100 ×$660=$66,000\text{Figma Organization Full: 5 } \times \$660 = \$3,300; \quad \text{25 } \times \$660 = \$16,500; \quad \text{100 } \times \$660 = \$66,000

No marketing team of 25 needs 25 Full seats. The honest Figma bill mixes seat types: designers hold Full seats, everyone else holds Collab seats at $60 a year. With 1 designer and 4 collaborators, 5 seats cost $900 a year; with 5 designers and 20 collaborators, 25 seats cost $4,500; with 20 designers and 80 collaborators, 100 seats cost $18,000.

Adobe Express Teams at $59.88 per license a year in year one, renewing at $95.88:

Teams year one: 5 ×$59.88=$299.40;25 ×$59.88=$1,497.00;100 ×$59.88=$5,988.00;renewal: 5 ×$95.88=$479.40;25 ×$95.88=$2,397.00;100 ×$95.88=$9,588.00\text{Teams year one: 5 } \times \$59.88 = \$299.40; \quad \text{25 } \times \$59.88 = \$1,497.00; \quad \text{100 } \times \$59.88 = \$5,988.00; \quad \text{renewal: 5 } \times \$95.88 = \$479.40; \quad \text{25 } \times \$95.88 = \$2,397.00; \quad \text{100 } \times \$95.88 = \$9,588.00

Adobe Teams is the cheapest paid team seat at every size in this comparison, in year one and after renewal. Its two-seat minimum sets the smallest Teams bill: $119.76 a year in year one, $191.76 on renewal.

Price Figma by seat type before you price it by headcount: one Full seat plus four Collab seats on Organization costs $900 a year; five Full seats cost $3,300. Run the mix through our break-even calculator with your real designer count.

The traps that move the bill

Three rules move the bill more than any discount. First, Canva Pro is one person only: the bill jumps from $144 for one Pro seat to $500 for two Business seats. Second, Adobe Teams has a two-seat minimum and a renewal step. Third, Figma bills seats added mid-year on an annual Professional plan at the monthly rate, so those seats cost $20 a Full seat a month, not $16.

Figma Organization Full vs Canva Business: $660$250=2.64;Canva Business vs Adobe Teams renewal: $250$95.88=2.61;Figma Organization Full vs Adobe Teams renewal: $660$95.88=6.88\text{Figma Organization Full vs Canva Business: } \frac{\$660}{\$250} = 2.64; \quad \text{Canva Business vs Adobe Teams renewal: } \frac{\$250}{\$95.88} = 2.61; \quad \text{Figma Organization Full vs Adobe Teams renewal: } \frac{\$660}{\$95.88} = 6.88

Those ratios hold at every team size: no vendor prints a volume discount, so the only way to cut the bill is to cut the seat type.

No vendor here discounts for volume. The bill scales linearly with seats, so the saving lives in seat types: Figma Collab seats at $60 a year and Adobe Teams licenses at $95.88 after renewal.

Execution checklist: buy the right seats in one pass

  1. Step 1 — Count the work, not the headcount. List who edits design files, who only comments and presents, and who only uses templates.
  2. Step 2 — Price the solo seat first. One person pays $119.88 a year on Adobe Premium, $144 on Canva Pro, or $192 on a Figma Professional Full seat annually.
  3. Step 3 — Apply the seat rules. Canva Pro holds one person only, so a second person means Business at $250 a person a year. Adobe Teams needs two licenses minimum.
  4. Step 4 — Price the mix at your headcount. Run 5, 25, and 100 seats through the formulas above with your real designer count: a 25-seat team pays $4,500 a year on Figma Organization mixed seats, $6,250 on Canva Business, and $1,497 in year one on Adobe Teams.
  5. Step 5 — Read the renewal line. Adobe Teams renews 60 percent higher. Budget the renewal price.
  6. Step 6 — Check the free ceiling you will hit. Canva Free stops at 1 Brand Kit with 3 colors. Figma Starter stops at shared libraries. Adobe Free stops at the daily generation allowance.
  7. Step 7 — Re-check the price on the vendor's page on the day you order. All three vendors change prices without notice, and the figure on the page is the only one that binds.

Canva, Figma, and Adobe Express do not sell the same seat. Canva sells a per-person template and brand platform with a one-person line on Pro. Figma sells editing rights by seat type, and its cheapest marketing seat is a Collab seat. Adobe Express sells the cheapest paid seat, with a first-year promo and a renewal step. Buy the tier that removes the limit you hit.
